What did
Cynthia Belliveau do after leaving
Wind at My Back?

FAN EXCLUSIVE !

Did you ever wonder why Honey Bailey was played by two different characters?

Both Cynthia Belliveau and Laura Bruneau played the family-loving, ambitious, and heart-warming character of Mrs. Bailey-Sutton perfectly, but when Belliveau left the big screen, many fans were asking what happened!

We explore why the original Honey Bailey, Cynthia Belliveau, left Wind at My Back and what she pursued afterward.

Cynthia Belliveau enjoyed an award-winning performing career in Canada, which began in television news, followed by starring roles in theatre, film, and TV. In addition to the role of Honey Bailey in Wind at My Back, she is best known for her television roles as Terri Morgan in E.N.G., and Dori Lowe in Caitlin's Way. Cynthia was a Gemini Award nominee for Best Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role at the 12th Gemini Awards in 1998 for Wind at My Back.

Cynthia enjoyed the role of Honey and the cast of Wind at My Back became her extended family. However, she also indulged in her lifelong passion for interior design in the limited downtime between seasons of all three long-running TV series. She was frequently sought out by fellow actors and directors to create dazzling interiors for their homes and she also brought her signature look to some of Toronto’s finest restaurants.

Having completed three seasons of Wind at My Back, she began thinking about leaving her acting career behind to focus on Interior Design. She departed the series and went on to film 52 episodes of Caitlin's Way. Soon after, Belliveau relocated from Toronto to Los Angeles where she quickly drew the attention of several prospective clients, including Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. Her work was included in several designer show-houses including The Greystone Mansion and The Doheny Estate in Beverly Hills.

Leaving acting behind, Cynthia went on to establish a successful soft furnishings business, which supplied several important Los Angeles design firms.

Her work in period films enhanced her interest and her commitment to historic items in her designs. Her rooms often featured expertly selected antiques mixed with classic, contemporary pieces. A dash of color can be found in the vintage objects and accessories she collects. She also opened her first antique store, The Collection, in Beverly Hills. Today her clients can discover her curated pieces at The Summerland Antique Collective and, the Antique Galleries of Palm Springs.

Cynthia especially loves finding paintings from long-forgotten artists. She restores and reframes them to give them a new life. As an artist herself, she attended the Ontario College of Art (and has a degree in English and Philosophy from the University of Waterloo) and while acting, also ran a gallery and studio in Toronto. Her artist’s eye provides clients with a thoughtfully edited palette.

It was bittersweet to see Cynthia move on to pursue her great passion outside of performing. But anyone who knows her, realizes she puts 300% of herself into any specific project. Sadly, she had to choose between the two careers and decided to leave her acting skills behind. For the fans of Wind at My Back who loved Cynthia's portrayal of Honey Bailey, the producers were happy that they had at least three marvelous seasons with her to develop the strong-willed, deeply soulful character of Honey.
